All XC drivers are invited to our next drive day. While organised with
Sydney and Canberra members in mind, members from further afield are also very welcome. We'll meet in Mittagong, possibly have a quick coffee, then go exploring. The vital statistics are as follows, but watch this post for any late updates. Where: Meet at the Mittagong Playhouse, at the corner of the Old Hume Highway and Bowral Road. Look for something like this - on the left if coming from Sydney, on the right if coming from Canberra. ![]() Date: Sunday 22 August 2010 Time: 9.00am, which should suit cars from both Sydney and Canberra What to bring: Lunch. We might be well away from takeaways and coffee shops. UHF CB radio, if you have one. Just a 1W handheld with decent batteries would be fine. Some of us have a few handhelds to share. Route: Up for discussion. Suggestions please!

Guys, can we do Saturday instead? Prefer Saturday simply so we can rest on Sunday if the drive runs into the evening. Being on a Sunday and by the time we get home it will be night.......then we have to go to work on Monday!
If on a Saturday, then we can relax on Sunday, go to Mass, etc, etc. But we can't please everyone. So if its Sunday then I will have to give it a miss, again! ![]() Cheers |

Really sorry it doesn't suit...
We're hoping to get a new participant along - NgunnawalJack - and he's working on the Saturday. Sunday 22nd was the best match between NgunnalwalJack's schedule and tank2's. We clearly need to have lots more drives - Sundays and Saturdays - so everyone gets a go!

Rumour has it that sydneyv70xc and tank2 are keen to come to the start at Mittagong and then head back to Sydney.
Can I suggest, to make their drive down worthwhile, we plan an on-time 9am meet in Mittagong and have a slightly longer coffee break before we head off? Unless the others are keen to stick around for part of the drive, in which case we'd want to head off ASAP. Any suggestions for the route yet?

Well I was thinking somewhere on the north side of the highway, where all the dirt is. The south side has too much bitumen. I'll do a recky via Google Earth this weekend.
