How is that bevel gear removal holding up? I am considering this on my car.
Do you recall what size worm clamps you used?

I can't remember, I bought a few different sizes I think...did the housing solution start to fail?

Nah, I just really wanted it gone. So I'm trying it your way! I got some decent sized clamps that I'm going to try tomorrow.

Don't forget to wrap the areas where the seals ride with the self healing vinyl tape in case one day you wish fr your awd again someday. Also keep the transfer case, it is worth $200 as a core for a trade on a new one.

My case is shot (it literally cracked and broke). The housing that I had holding the sleeve in was only the half that has the bolt holes. This car will never be AWD again, unless someone magically sends me a couple thousand bucks. Plus, having all this stuff out of the way makes it SOOO easy to access the underside of the turbo and the heater hoses which I'm in the process of replacing.

How long has this lasted ?, or is the car still running ok ?
Thinking about doing the same today, but welding a washer onto the driveshaft instead of the clamp you used.
still going great. just make sure everything stays balanced when you weld the washer and leave a tiny bit of free play....

I've had the hose clamp solution on for 1500 miles now and all is well! Thank you!
