August 17, 2001: Formerly known as the Whitbread Race, the 2001-2002 Volvo Ocean Race will commence in Southampton UK, charting a course around the world. Volvo, title sponsor of the event, will release commemorative Ocean Race Editions of their Cross Country and V70T5 vehicles to celebrate the event!
